Re-upholstering is a smart alternative to the more expensive lower quality new furniture. There are varying reasons why many of our customers choose to re-upholster, sentimental value, broad fabric selection, solid frame, monetary value or a decorating change.
Re-upholstering is basically a complete restoration of the furniture. The restoration will start by removing the old fabric and padding right down to the bare frame. When stripping your furniture down we will always check the frame and strengthen if needed before carrying out any work. Our team of upholsterers will then work from the frame up which is the same way as the original manufacturer. Once the frame is then inspected and the upholsterer is completely happy he will start by stripping and refinishing the wood or cleaning and touching up the wood depending on the condition.
Next we turn our attention to the springs, broken springs will be replaced and coiled springs will be re-tied, depending on the spring originally used.
With the frame and springs rebuilt, the upholsterer is ready to add new padding and the new fabric. With the re-upholstering or restoration complete the furniture will now be like a brand new piece again.
